Platelete - Thrombocyte Protest for Recognition as Cells
Plateletes or Thrombocytes are cells! They have a outer cell membrane, working mitochondria, ER, ribosomes, cytoplasm, and other organelles. They are metabollically active. Pieces of cell? So rude, we are cells! Hey hey, ho ho, get used to it.

Cytobudding - Another form of Cell Division by Megakaryocytes
Platelets are cells! The are created not by mitosis, not by meiosis, not by binary fission, but rather by process called cytobudding.
Platelets have an outer cell membrane, have active mitochondria, and a wee bit of cytoplasm. But no nucleus, like red blood cells. This makes their cellular N number 0N, yep that's right "zero-N." However, they do have a wee bit of genetic information, that which is found in the mitochondria! These wee cells even have to ability to move on their own will and can have been known to take down a bacteria or two. So the new term presented here is: "Cytobudding." A special kind of semi-asexual reproduction that occurs with Megakaryocytes in your bone marrow.
To summarize they there are three types of cell division in the healthy human body: mitosis (asexual), meiosis (sexual), and cytobudding (semi-asexual).
Potential names for this process: Fractional-Fission, Cymitosis, Anuclear Cytokinesis, Buddikinesis, Spudyekinesis, Pseudo-Cytomitosis????
